Malaysia Aerospace Summit 2023 (MyAERO’23)

Date: 15 & 16 November 2023
Venue: Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre

NAICO Malaysia organised the 6th edition of MyAERO Summit, an annual event that gathered stakeholders in the aerospace industry to highlight the potential and current capabilities of the Malaysian aerospace industry eco-system and provide a platform for subject matter experts to share and promote industry competency development. Malaysia Aerospace Summit to promote the development of Malaysia’s aerospace industry ecosystem under the Twelfth Malaysia Plan (RMKe-12). MyAERO’22 is focused on accelerating ecosystem development with the theme “Establishing a Sustainable Aerospace Industry”. The main objective is to highlight and showcase the development of the aerospace ecosystem and capabilities of the aerospace industry players in Malaysia.

Boeing Naico Supply Chain Forum

Date: 10 – 12 October 2023
Venue: Grand Hyatt, Kuala Lumpur

The Boeing-NAICO Aerospace Supply Chain Forum 2023 on 10th to 12th of October, held at The Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur, was a significant event with over 200 participants, featuring forums, networking sessions, and supplier visits. The event highlighted NAICO Malaysia’s progress in aligning local suppliers with Boeing’s standards, underscoring Malaysia’s emergence as a key player in the global aerospace community. The forum was inaugurated by YB Senator Tengku Datuk Seri Utama Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz, who emphasized the role of sustainable manufacturing and the role of the New Industrial Master Plan 2030 in supporting Malaysia’s transformation into a global aerospace hub. The forum's objectives were to reinforce Malaysia’s role in the global aerospace supply chain and foster collaboration between existing and future suppliers. Key sessions included insights from Boeing and Malaysian aerospace leaders on market outlooks, government support, and industry collaboration. The event featured supplier visits and a business-to-business session with Boeing and Japan’s METI, focusing on strengthening ties and advancing Malaysia-Japan aerospace cooperation. The forum's emphasis on innovation, sustainability, and talent development reflects Malaysia’s strategic vision to enhance its aerospace sector and positions the country for future growth, with the Singapore Airshow 2024 anticipated as the next milestone.

MIHAS Promotion by NAICO Malaysia

The 19th Malaysia International Halal Showcase (MIHAS) is a conventional exhibition hosted by the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) and organised by Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) in association with Halal Development Corporation Berhad (HDC) and the Department of Islamic Development of Malaysia (JAKIM). MIHAS is a robust marketplace for both international and local players to seize opportunities beyond Halal food, including Halal pharmaceuticals, medical devices, finance, modest fashion, personal care and cosmetics, green technologies, and even Muslim-friendly tourism.

Paris International Air Show 2023

Highlights 2023

Seminar on Japan's Aerospace Industry

Date: 14 March 2023
Venue: The Westin Kuala Lumpur

The seminar is jointly organised by NAICO Malaysia and the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), Japan, with the aim of deepening the understanding of Malaysian companies about aircraft industry policies and ecosystems in Japan.

Langkawi International Maritime & Aerospace Exhibition (LIMA’23)

Date: 23-27 May 2023
Venue: Mahsuri International Exhibition Centre, Langkawi, Kedah

The National Aerospace Industry Corporation Malaysia (NAICO Malaysia), an agency under the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI), participated in the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition 2023 (LIMA’23) under MITI Pavilion. The Company’s participation involved collaboration with Malaysian Investment Development and Authority (MIDA); Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE); Standard & Industrial Research Institute of Malaysia (SIRIM Berhad); Malaysian Industrial Development Finance Berhad (MIDF Berhad) and Aerospace Malaysia Innovation Centre (AMIC) for the MITI Pavilion and programs organised by MITI and agencies.

The objectives of NAICO Malaysia’s participation in LIMA’23 include:

  • To promote Malaysia as the aerospace hub in South East Asia as part of the Twelfth Malaysia Plan (“RMKe-12”) aerospace promotional initiative;
  • To showcase Malaysia’s industry development and capabilities; and
  • To provide a platform for industry players to share ideas as well as create business opportunities for local players, particularly for the Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) in the aerospace industry.

 

Highlights of NAICO Malaysia’s Participation at LIMA’23

Opening Ceremony of the LIMA’23
The Opening Ceremony of the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition 2023 was held on 23 May 2023 at the Tarmac, Mahsuri International Exhibition Centre (MIEC). The opening ceremony was attended by ministers and delegations from the defence and commercial sectors.

The Launch of “Malaysia Aerospace Centre of Excellence (MyAERO Centre) and “AS9100 Certification by SIRIM QAS”
The launching ceremony was inaugurated by YB Liew Chin Tong, Deputy Minister of MITI and was accompanied by YBhg. Datuk Seri Isham Ishak, the Secretary General of MITI. The launching ceremony was attended by stakeholders, MITI and agency delegations.

Aerospace Industry Seminar, 24 May 2023
The Aerospace Industry Seminar was held on 24 May 2023 where industry experts and leaders shared their vision, recent developments, and the way forward for the aerospace industry.

The seminar is successfully organised by MIDA and the Malaysia Aerospace Industry Association (MAIA) and supported by NAICO Malaysia. The opening remarks were delivered by YBhg. Datuk Arham Abdul Rahman, the Chief Executive Officer of the Malaysia Investment Development Authority, and the closing remarks and conclusion were delivered by Mr. Naguib Mohd Nor, President of the Malaysia Aerospace Industry Association.

Prof. Ts. Shamsul Kamar, Chief Executive Officer of NAICO Malaysia, was invited to be the panellist for session 1: The Future for Sustainable Aviation.
